What’s the best parenting advice you’ve ever received?

The best parenting advice I’ve ever received is that parenting is a marathon, not a sprint…so don’t go for the easy fix. Go for the end result you’re hoping for and your child will turn out to be an amazing young man (or woman).

How did you choose your children’s names?

My oldest son’s first name (Brian, 12) was just one we liked…very middle-of-the-road, but his middle name (Davis) is my maiden name. Our middle son, age 10, looked like a Scott the minute he was born and his middle name (Francis) is after my husband’s favorite aunt. We struggled with a name for our youngest son, age 8, and my husband just said out loud, “Eric Robert” – and we both loved it. Eric had no particular meaning to us, but Robert is after my father.
