Family-

I don’t think anyone would disagree it’s the most important part of life. Your family is who you are. Where you come from. Your Home. There’s nothing better. Life is busy, so sometimes you lose touch. It’s nice to check up online and see how cousin Kerry’s dogs are doing or if Ray tackled another marathon. It’s always great to see pictures of your cousin’s kiddies as they grow, but I think it’s important to have a live showing now and again. Honestly, I think social media has made us feel as if we don’t have to get together as much because we feel like we’re caught up with each other’s lives since you “liked” their recent posts on FB. Well, I just got home from the Callahan Family Reunion and I’m here to tell you, there’s no comparison to the real deal. Real hugs, real laughs, real stories, real faces. Of course we posed for a pic to slap on Facebook, but it was so refreshing to actually catch up in the flesh and enjoy each other’s company, share a story, a drink or two, and be TOGETHER. That’s what it’s all about!

I heard tales of trips to Europe, the life of a police officer, Professional photos of One Direction and Lady GaGa in NYC, a courtroom marriage to an Irish Lad for a green card, a future destination wedding to Punta Cana, new babies on the way, kids heading off to college (Go Villanova!) and I learned about Glamorous Camping aka Glamping; you know… pink adirondack chairs, champagne, flamingos stuck in the campground… (that’s ok… it was the first time I’ve ever heard of such a thing either…. sounds awesome!) And the pepperoni dip… to die for!

So after a fabulous day together we decided it’s been too long and we MUST try to do this at least once a year if not every other year. Agreed!

My husband’s family, the Cavanaughs, are good at this. They’ve been going strong for over 65 years. They’re smart…. they meet at the beach every Memorial Day Weekend. Everybody shows up, because, well…who doesn’t love the beach?

So I hope I have inspired you to call on your peeps and schedule a get together. Meet at a park, or the beach or in a basement. It doesn’t matter where, just as long as you are there to enjoy that wonderful family!!!
