FAVORITE THANKSGIVING TRADITIONS!
Aug 28th 2019
With Thanksgiving here, that means the holiday season has officially started! The best part of the holidays are all of the fun traditions that come with it, and we wanted to hear from our customers what some of their favorite Thanksgiving traditions are – whether it’s a special family dish at dinner, watching the Macy’s parade with friends, or celebrating with those important to you.
We put the question out to our Facebook friends and here are some of the traditions shared..
- Going to my husbands family for dinner! Always a great time! – Leslie Willhide Osborne
- Having a sit down dinner even when there are 3 tables and tons of people….I love to look around and be thankful for each person sitting there. -Emily DePaul
- Since having kids we always get together with friends on “Thanksgiving eve” for Chinese food. Love having Thanksgiving with friends Wednesday and then family on Thursday! -Erin Dougherty
- Heading “up North” to share Thanksgiving with our entire family. . . from the 92 year old Momma to the 11 month old baby boy. . . and the Champagne Cork Shooting Contest just prior to sitting down to dinner! -Barbara Willhide Plecker
- Meet up with friends at a Starbucks on UES at 8:15am – all welcome – then kids and parents “parade” across Central Park, find a nice spot on the less crowded park side, then watch the Macy’s Parade live. Then everyone splits up to join family for their respective holiday meal traditions. We’ve done this every Thanksgiving morning since the kids can remember. -Elizabeth King Kramer
- Tents! we make tents. My siblings and I did it as kids and now our children do it! I love knowing that when I walk in the door after a Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot, I will walk in the door and find a sea of tents with impy children popping out from the creases! -Kristen Kelly Liebsch
- The grand kids all gather around the table Wednesday night and break the bread for the stuffing into a huge bowl….and get very silly in the process! The adults break into a verse of “Let Us Break Bread Together”. -Chris Lewis
- I give the girls their Christmas Pajamas on Thanksgiving night. They get to wear them the entire Christmas season! -Kathie Mazzotta Reilly
- I call my neice and nephew and gobble like a turkey…good for some laughs! We also have a turkey gobbling contest at the dinner table (after we share what we’re thankful for, of course!) -Bethanne Bowers Brown
Thanks to everyone for sharing their Thanksgiving traditions – enjoy!
